BATCH8892 now celebrates its 20th reunion. Many of us from this batch haven’t seen each other for the last 20 years! Some of us do keep in contact and maintained close communication. It is our hope that with this mega reunion that is coupled with the responsibility to organise OBW2012, our batch will be better connected to resurrect the “Brotherhood” that saw its last peak back in 1992 during our SPM week. We are of value individually, of course, but when combined together, we present a crown embeded with multicoloured jewels - an epitome of unity.

So, who is BATCH8892? Well, we are now everywhere in the society. We are doctors, engineers, bankers, lawyers, accountants, pilots, in the Government, entrepreneurs and many more. Some of us are even in the depth of the ocean in a submarine and some are making a living in foreign countries. What marks our batch would be our successes when we were in school, of which, the following are the memorable ones:

Brothers of STAROBA out there. Register for OBW2012 now! The event is on 14-16 Sep 2012 but why wait till the last minute in Ipoh in front of the school hall when you can register now. It is only RM50. Do it early so that you can plan for the weekend. We will be posting hotel rates for all to benefit. Oh ya.... almost forgot, the first 200 registrants will get free OBW2012 t-shirt!!! cepat! cepat! Once a Starian, ... you'll always be a Starian. No escape !


How do you register early?

STEP 2: We will reply back with Word Doc form and Maybank account number for you to transfer money via M2U

STEP 3: Email us the pdf signed completed form and the M2U ref#. Once the transaction is checked, we will email you pdf receipt

STEP 4: Then we can liaise via email on how you are going to collect your free t-shirt (for first 200 only) and your registration pack which will contain merchandises that we will surprise you later. Most probably you'll need to bring your printed receipt to Ipoh and present it to the registration counter to get your goody bag.

The 32nd batch of STAR, Batch 1988 – 1992, would like to express our sincerest gratitude to STAROBA for giving us the opportunity and trust to organise STAROBA Old Boys’ Weekend (OBW) 2012.

This experience will be a valuable one. We, Batch 1988 – 1992, were reunited after a long 20 years since we last said our good-byes in 1992. Today, there are no longer long lost brothers. Today, we celebrate the resurrection of the “Brotherhood”. Today, we look back into the memory lane only to find ourselves in laughter of nostalgic events and realisation of the strong connection we all had and still have. We would like to declare that our batch has evolved to the next stage, a stage where the future will only mean better friendship. 

We would also like to take this opportunity to greet all other batches who are coming for the OBW2012 this September. The presence of so many batches gives meaning and substance to what OBW is all about. Reconnection is not just within a batch, but intra batches. Such is our “Brotherhood” that once a year, we meet and we celebrate.

OBW2012 …an emerald jubilee

SEKOLAH TUANKU ABDUL RAHMAN (STAR), Ipoh, is celebrating its 55th anniversary this very year. Throughout  those  five and a half  long decades since its inception in the Merdeka year, 1957, STAR was a school and home for some of the brightest and most talented pupils in the country. It continues to be a teacher for generations of future leaders.

On Malaysia Day weekend this year, the Batch of 88-92 will be holding our annual STAR Old Boys’ Association (STAROBA) weekend (OBW2012). We are expecting a turnout of more than 800 old boys at this year's Emerald Jubilee event. There will be a Hari Raya Get Together at our school on Saturday, 14 September 2012, followed by the annual dinner later that night. STAROBA, our old boys’ association, will be having its Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 15 September 2012.

In between that, we have lined up games and activities, including a charity golf event and rugby matches to keep our boys happy. It is, ultimately, a reason for many of us to come down to Ipoh and renew our  Brotherhood as Starians. For one weekend a year, we leave our ties in Kuala Lumpur and our decisions in Putrajaya to be among friends in Ipoh, particularly at this beloved alma matter off the infamous Tiger Lane (now known as Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah).

Our story is the story of how success was born, that is, when youth begins to explore their potentials. Our celebration is your celebration, God willing.

TAJAAN PROGRAM STAROBA OLDBOYS WEEKEND 2012 (OBW2012)

Sukacita saya menarik perhatian Y. Bhg. Tan Sri/Dato’ Sri/Dato’/Datuk/Tuan/Puan berhubung perkara di atas.

Adalah dimaklumkan bahawa Persatuan Bekas Pelajar Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAROBA) Ipoh, Perak akan menganjurkan STAROBA Old Boys Weekend 2012 (OBW2012) di Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR), Ipoh, Perak pada 14 sehingga 16 September 2012. Program yang bertemakan ’BROTHERHOOD’ ini sepertimana pada tahun-tahun sebelumnya adalah bertujuan untuk mengumpulkan bekas-bekas penuntut dari seawal tahun penubuhan STAR pada tahun 1957 sehingga sekarang yang mempunyai keahlian kira-kira 5,000 orang di seluruh negara termasuk dari negara Brunei Darussalam.

Old Boys Weekend (OBW) merupakan acara tahunan STAROBA dengan melibatkan kerjasama pihak sekolah. Pada 2012, bekas-bekas pelajar Batch 88-92 telah diberikan mandat penganjuran dan sehubungan dengan itu, STAR NINETY TWO (002064356-P) telah ditubuhkan khusus bagi maksud di atas dan dipertanggungjawabkan untuk menyelaras dan memastikan OBW2012 dapat di laksanakan dengan sempurna dan berjalan lancar. Bagi mengekalkan tradisi penganjuran sebelumnya, pelbagai program dan acara yang melibatkan bekasbekas pelajar termasuk pelajar-pelajar STAR telahpun di atur. Selain dari itu, dalam mengekalkan kesinambungan STAROBA melaksanakan tanggungjawab sosialnya kepada bekas-bekas pelajar, bekas-bekas guru, pelajar-pelajar STAR mahupun masyarakat setempat yang kurang bernasib baik, program-program kebajikan turut diadakan.

Dalam memastikan OBW2012 ini dapat berjalan lancar, STAROBA dengan rendah diri memohon sumbangan penajaan daripada pihak Y. Bhg. Tan Sri/Dato’ Sri/Dato’/Datuk/Tuan/Puan. STAROBA juga turut memohon kebenaran pihak Y. Bhg. Tan Sri/Dato’ Sri/Dato’/Datuk/Tuan/Puan untuk menggunakan logo korporat, imej, maklumat syarikat Y. Bhg. Tan Sri/Dato’ Sri/Dato’/Datuk/Tuan/Puan yang difikirkan bersesuaian bagi tujuan promosi.
